After the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, Ukrainian actors and the majority of Ukrainian citizens chose the path of total separation from Russian culture. As a consequence, the demand for domestic movies in 2023 has increased significantly compared to 2019.
Until February 24, 2022, in our country, there was gender inequality in the film industry (not in favor of women), but now there is a clearly visible positive dynamics. Ukrainian actresses are becoming louder, and their roles are more often beyond stereotypical female images, such as “Victim” or “Bitch”.
