Hollywood and Ukrainian actress Ivanna Sakhno stopped cooperating with the famous streaming platform Netflix because she did not want to play a Russian in a new picture. She told me about this in an interview with TSN.
Now, she needs to pay compensation, which is 50% of earnings from another Netflix series.
“I will tell you that there is less and less representation of Russians in Hollywood now. I’ve had moments where I was attached to a Netflix series during COVID. It was the role of a Russian woman. It was an American woman’s role, but it had a background from the Soviet Union. At the time, it was one of my first major roles in a big Netflix series,” Sakhno shared.
Due to the pandemic, the movie filming never took place, but Ivanna decided not to wait for it to start and immediately turned down the role after the full-scale invasion began.
